MFG: Fully Baked Ideas
#of Players: 2 – 5
Age Range: Adult
Sug. Retail: $ 14
Overall Construction: The deck of cards is very much like any other bridge deck. The artwork come from Basic Fluxx from Looney Labs and from Stoner Fluxx by Fully Baked Ideas. The tye-dyed box is really cool. The rules explain the game really well and fold up nicely into the box.
Gameplay: I like to liken this game to playing dominos. The deck is shuffled and 7 cards are dealt out to each player. Unlike normal games, Loonacy is played all at once. Every player tries to empty their hand of all of their cards as quickly as possible, all playing cards at the same time. They empty their hands by matching one of the images on their card to an image on the card that is flipped up in the center of the table. If at any point no one has a match to either of the two images on the center card the dealer will then stop to deal out one card to each player. We recommend that all played hold off on flipping their card until everyone has a card dealt to them. This gives everyon an equal opportunity to play. We also like to call out the picture that we are matching so everyone knows that it was a correct match. We also shout “Out” when we empty our hands.
Yes/No Recommend: As is stated in the age range, this is an adult version of a regular game. The only thing that makes this an adult game is the subject matter. It’s like if there was a Drinking Loonacy, the subject matter would make it an adult game too. This game is loads of fun. I took it out to the bar with me. I had a total of 8 people rotating on and off the table we were playing on from 9:30pm until last call at 12:45am. People were walking past the table and watching us play and sometimes joining in. This game is easy to learn and loads of fun to play. The subject matter reminded me of my youth, but if the subject matter is an issue, there are 4 other versions of Loonacy that you can try.
This is a must buy game, for ease of play and learning, replay value, and cost based on all of those reasons.
Where To Get It: With the adult nature of this game, I do not believe that you will find it anywhere, but at a local game store. Please check Fully Baked’s website for more information
