The Gen Con team is packing up next week for Indy. Are you ready?! Demo The Thing: Infection at Outpost 31 from USAopoly
An alien lifeform has infiltrated a bleak and desolate Antarctic research station assimilating other organisms and then imitating them. In the hidden identity game The Thing™: Infection at Outpost 31, you will relive John Carpenter’s sci-fi cult classic in a race to discover who among the team has been infected by this heinous lifeform.
Play as one of 12 characters as you lead a series of investigations through the facility using supplies and equipment to clear the building. The tension mounts and paranoia ensues as you question whom you can trust in the ultimate race to save humanity!
Be sure to stop by the USAopoly Booth #149 early on each day to sign up for our limited number of demo spots. When players demo the game, they will receive an exclusive Outpost 31 patch at the end of the demo.
Join the teams from Mondo and Project Raygun for a panel discussion with a behind-the-scenes look at this highly anticipated new board game release. “You are the Warmest Place to Hide: The Making of Infection at Outpost 31” will also include a Q+A with the game’s creative and development teams. Gen Con wants you to have a happy, healthy, FUN, and safe time, so here are a few tips, tricks, and guidelines to help you make the most out of your convention experience:
Water, Water, Water – Carry a water bottle and stay hydrated! The ICC has several drinking fountains for refills. Waiting for your next turn during your Catan game? Drink some water. Listening to your favorite author speak? Drink some water! Watching a band on Georgia Street? Drink some water! Water.
Don’t Forget to Eat – Your schedule may be packed with gaming from dawn till dusk, but remember to snack and plan meal breaks to keep your action points full!
Sleep – No really, make sure you sleep. Gen Con is a 24-hour show, but if you aren’t well rested you won’t remember a moment of it! Leave the zombies for cosplay and tabletops!
It May Be Hot! You May Get Cold! – Summer in Indy easily can top 90 degrees, so please plan on bringing light clothing and sunscreen. That said, you may need a hoodie in case it gets chilly during your tournament in the ICC.
Footwear – Gen Con is HUGE and there is a lot of ground to cover! Do yourself a favor, and swap out trendy shoes for a comfortable pair of sneakers that will support your gaming adventure there and back again. Take care of your feet, and they will take care of you!
Cosplay Guidelines – Photography is fun, but please ask before snapping someone’s picture. Also, if you are planning on participating in the epicness that is #genconcosplay, please familiarize yourself with the Costumes & Weapons policy. Gen Con strives to create a safe, welcoming environment for all.
The Golden Rule – Above all else, Gen Con is dedicated to providing a harassment-free event experience for everyone, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, or affiliation. The convention will not tolerate harassment of convention participants in any form. Please read through the Ethics & Conduct Policies. Kindness, courtesy, and respect keep Gen Con a happy event for all. Two Weeks to Go
The historic Gen Con 50 will open its doors two weeks from today! The Gen Con team is ready, displays are being shipped across the country, and of course, games are getting prepped to get into your hands!
Badges have nearly sold out, and only a limited number of Friday badges remain. There will be no onsite badge sales, so get your badge online today at gencon.com.

Tracy will share how and why she created Walden, talk about what’s next for experimental gaming and take questions from the audience. This free Indiana Humanities event is proudly presented in partnership with Gen Con. Complimentary drinks and snacks, but pre-registration is encouraged.
