Gen Con 50 Event Registration NOW OPEN
The Gen Con team would like to thank everyone that participated in the opening of Event Registration on Sunday. Thousands of attendees participated with a record number of events (17,000!) to choose. If you did not take part, there are still nearly 10,000 events with tickets in the system.
Want to learn more about these offerings? Check out the Event Catalog links for up-to-the-minute event details!
What Can I Do if an Event Sells Out?
First, please note that there are still more than 10,000 events to choose from at Gen Con 50 with more on the way. The number of events offered will grow throughout the summer, and popular events may have additional sessions added. Some events also will move to larger spaces, as they have demonstrated demand beyond their initial capacity.
Attendees also can encourage event organizers of popular events to run more sessions at the convention. Event listings have contact information for event organizers and GMs.
During the opening days of Event Registration, schedules can shift dramatically, so tickets are even more likely to become available within the next several days. Plans for attendees do change throughout the summer, and tickets which have “sold out” may return to the system. If you did not receive your highest priority events, check back periodically to see if tickets become available or additional sessions/seats become available. You also may use generic tickets to try to attend “sold out” events. What Are Generic Tickets?
An hour after Event Registration opened yesterday, generic tickets were added as a purchase option. These tickets allow attendees to join events on site that they do not have tickets to participate. If an event has “no shows,” which is common, the event organizer may allow attendees with generic tickets to join an event. You can use these tickets to discover new events at the show, too! Returning Event Tickets
Gen Con’s event management system has a feature that allows users to return tickets for system credit with no administrative fee. You can return a ticket, then you may purchase another for the same or an overlapping time slot. To return a ticket, sign in to your Gen Con account and click on your account name. This will take you to your home page. You also may go to the “My Transactions” page from the drop-down menu. Once there, you may select “Refund” and check the box next to each ticket you wish to drop. The full amount of the ticket will be returned to your system credit.
Remember, system credit is non-refundable, non-transferable and does not expire, so it can be used to purchase badges or event tickets for this or a future Gen Con.

Celebrate 15 Years of True Dungeon
Adventures in “The Name of the Wind” Novel Setting To celebrate Gen Con 50 and True Dungeon’s 15th year, True Dungeon has teamed up with author Patrick Rothfuss to craft two exciting adventures. They will feature characters and monsters from his world– as well as some new surprises. They are pulling out all the stops to transform Lucas Oil Stadium (Exhibit Hall 1-2) into immersive adventures presented within the realm of the Fae, as well as the sleepy village of Newarre. The event takes place in the basement level of Lucas Oil Stadium in Hall 2 which is accessible from the north doors of LOS or an underground hallway shown here. Complete event details can be found here.

Many of this year’s tokens are directly inspired by items within the world of “The Name of the Wind” – including Shaed (a powerful Fae cloak). Orders ship in one-two days via USPS Priority Mail. What Can I Do if an Event Sells Out?
There are more than 16,000 events to choose from at Gen Con 50 with something for every attendee. The number of events offered will grow throughout the summer, and popular events may have additional sessions added. However, many events will sell out, due to high demand. Some of these events will sell out rapidly in the opening minutes of Event Registration. Adding back-up choices to your Wish List will give you more options to attend high-demand events. That said, not everyone will get all the events they want.
Plans for attendees do change, and tickets may return to the system. Additional seats may open up as well. During the opening days of Event Registration, schedules can shift dramatically, so tickets are even more likely to become available then. If you do not receive your highest priority events, check back periodically to see if tickets become available.
At Gen Con, you may use “generic tickets” to attend sold out events. If a ticketed attendee doesn’t show up and the event organizer allows it,you may join an event with generic tickets. After Event Registration opens and once all Wish Lists are processed, generic tickets will get added as a purchase option. These tickets also allow you to join any other events that you do not have tickets for, space permitting. You can use these tickets to discover new events or find extra slots at your previous favorites!
