HotBox Pizza Returns as Official Pizza of Gen Con 50
As announced today via press release, HotBox is back as the Official Pizza of Gen Con, now taking that mantle for the third year in a row! With nearly 20 locations around Indy, you don’t have to be downtown to try HotBox Pizza. You can get pizza slices, including a custom pizza made just for Gen Con 50, on Georgia St., or from their downtown Indy location. Gen Con fans will get to vote on several aspects of this cool promotion. You can find out more about HotBox at their website.
“HotBox Pizza is proud to be a Gen Con partner,” said Gabe Connell, Founder at HotBox Pizza. “To us, Gen Con is all about people. The incredible Gen Con staff working tirelessly to organize the chaos, people who travel from near and far to meet friends and share their passion for gaming, and, of course, everyone in the hospitality industry working long hours so all of our guests have plenty to eat and drink while they enjoy their time in Indy. As a small, local company, HotBox Pizza is honored to be part of such a large and incredible event.”
HotBox set a one-week sales record during Gen Con 2016, beating their previous record set during Super Bowl XLVI in 2012. Let’s see if Gen Con can do it again! Their signature “The Deal” promotion includes a single topping pizza, breadstix, and two drinks for $16.99.
Gen Con 50 Exhibit Hall Map
(Click map to open digital PDF)
More than 500 exhibitors will participate in the historic Gen Con 50! Today, for the first time, you can begin your exploration of the Gen Con 50 Exhibit Hall through official convention maps.
There are two ways to delve into the Gen Con 50 Exhibit Hall. The traditional way is to view the downloadable PDF document. Convenient to print and a handy web bookmark, this map is a great way to begin your Gen Con 50 planning. This map will reappear in the Gen Con 50 Program Book which will be in physical format at the convention, as well as through a condensed PDF approximately one week prior to the show on gencon.com.
Gen Con also has created another more robust method to explore the Exhibit Hall further via an Interactive Map. This map allows you to zoom and pan the Exhibit Hall as well as the rest of Gen Con space in Indianapolis. Clicking on a booth will show you which organizations occupy each space, and will give you links to their websites. This map also will allow you to search for specific exhibitors by name or location, via the search field in the upper left corner. Check out all-new exhibitors in Entrepreneur’s Avenue and booths for the entire family in the Family Fun Pavilion.
Please note: the Exhibit Hall features 500+ companies, however, many other sponsors, event organizers, and partners await you throughout the Indiana Convention Center, Lucas Oil Stadium, Georgia Street, and at many hotels.
Vote To Name the Official Gen Con 50 Beer (21+)
Contest participants submitted more than 2,000 names, and the finalists have been chosen for the Official Beer name of Gen Con 50! Created by Indy’s own Sun King Brewery, this year’s beer is a Belgian Golden Ale. To make the list of finalists, beer names had to clear several hurdles, the largest of which was ensuring that the name was legally usable and not close to existing beer names. The beer name also had to be evocative, fun, and match the spirit of the Gen Con 50 and the Sun King partnership.
Now, the Gen Con team needs your helping paring down the list of eight finalists. Vote today at this survey link in Round Two of the Official Beer Naming Contest for Gen Con 50.
Hickman’s Killer Breakfast to Return for Gen Con 50 Special Event

A Gen Con tradition, Hickman’s Killer Breakfast presents a unique crowd experience as Tracy and Laura Hickman navigate an interactive adventure with a live audience. With musical numbers, exciting surprises, and 300 first-level characters facing certain doom, Hickman’s Killer Breakfast is a “can’t miss” Gen Con experience.

Gen Con attendees will have their first chance to sign-up for events later this month, when Event Registration begins on gencon.com on Sunday, May 28 at noon (Eastern). With thousands of events to choose from, Event Registration will present you with numerous options for your Gen Con weekend. Some event tickets are free, such as those for seminars, films, KID events, and more. Many events are created by and hosted by attendees, gaming groups, and companies. Your purchased event tickets allow them to provide this extra entertainment and guarantee you a seat at the table or in the crowd. Event tickets are not required to participate in Exhibit Hall activities and demos.
The Program Management team at Gen Con will post the initial Event Catalog and event listings will become available for your search approximately two weeks prior to the opening of Event Registration on gencon.com. When event listings become available, Gen Con will alert you via newsletter, through social media, and at gencon.com. Once these listings are posted, attendees can begin compiling their Wish List of events.
You can add, remove, and prioritize events on your Wish List in preparation for Event Registration. Prospective event ticket purchasers should load up their Wish List with options to ensure a better chance at securing their favorite events. When Event Registration begins, attendees can submit their Wish Lists, and they will get processed in the order they are received. After a Wish List is processed, an attendee may purchase tickets to the events that they were able to secure.
More information on how to participate, including answers to Frequently Asked Questions will come in the next few weeks, prior to Event Registration. Have questions? Email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Cosplay, Special Guests, and Guest of Honor
Cosplay, or costume play, is the art and science of dressing up to portray a character. Attendees, each year, dress up as a variety of characters, from their favorite TV series, comic books, and video games. This year, Gen Con will present more than 40 hours of programming related to cosplay, including costuming workshops, seminars on presentation and cosplay etiquette, and the popular Crossplay Contest. Special Cosplay guests for Gen Con 50 include Britt Bliss, Mogchelle Cosplay, and Cosplay Guest of Honor, Carl Martin of Shinka Studios.
Check the event listings when they become available in May for a full list of cosplay events. In addition, Lucas Oil Stadium and the Indiana Convention Center will feature special locations for you to stop and take your picture. Take a photo of your costume to post online and share it with friends! Please tag your photos with #genconcosplay or #gencon50 if you would like to be featured on Gen Con’s social media accounts during the convention. Interested attendees should read Gen Con’s Ethics and Conduct policy, No Harrassment policy, and Costumes & Weapons rules to ensure a fun, safe time for all attendees.
