“It’s hard to believe that we’re just over six weeks until Gen Con! On behalf of my entire team at Paizo, we can’t wait to see you at the show. Many of you already know that Gen Con offers unparalleled game experiences and access to some of the greatest personalities in gaming, from the crazy tinkerers that write the games we love to the hilarious and kind people who play them. If you’ve never before been to Gen Con, your whole world is about to change. I’ve met some of my best friends in life across a game table over my 22 years of Gen Con, and every year is like a wonderful reunion. Swing by the Paizo booth (#103) just inside the front door of the dealer room to say hi, grab a daily free Pathfinder button, pick up the brand-new Horror Adventures hardcover, or play a free demo of our Adventure Card Game. And don’t forget to visit the cavernous Sagamore Ballroom upstairs, where more than 100 Pathfinder tables await stalwart adventurers eager to make a name for themselves. Who knows? Some of them could turn out to be your new best friends!” –Erik Mona, Publisher, Paizo Inc.
New Games from Thames & Kosmos at Booth #2831
Thames & Kosmos is excited to share its ever-growing line of board games with Gen Con attendees this summer! In addition to classics like Reiner Knizia’s Lost Cities (both the card game and board game) and fan favorites like Dimension, T&K has five totally new titles to share.
Swing by Booth #2831 to check out T&K’s complete catalog of games, including these highlights:
Smugglers: Just released this month! Klaus Teuber of Settlers of Catan fame teams up with his son Benjamin to bring fans a new family game that has players competing to smuggle contraband by hiding them in sacks of modeling putty.
Tally Ho! and The Rose King: These releases from the Kosmos 2-player line made their way to the US earlier this spring.
Imhotep: Everyone wants to get their hands on a copy of this Spiel des Jahres-nominated title and at Gen Con, they can! But act fast! T&K will have a limited quantity available each day of the show.
Players will also have the chance to try out these games and more in the demo area all day, every day. Longing to get lost in the world of Andor? The base game and two expansions (New Heroes and The Star Shield) will be available, and you can get a sneak peek at the newest expansion to the series, Journey to the North, which will be on sale this fall.

It’s senior year at the Horribilorum Sorcery Academy for Witty Witches and Wizards. All of your hard work and studying comes down to this: the final exams! Under the helpful tutelage of the Headmaster, students have learned how to handle volatile ingredients and turn them into fantastical potions! Welcome to Potion Explosion from CMON and Horrible Games.
By pulling ingredients like Unicorn Tears and Fairy Dandruff, represented by marbles, out of the dispenser, the higher up ingredients slide down to fill in the gap. Players try to make the same ingredients smash together causing explosions and big-turn combos. Once all the necessary ingredients have been collected, players complete their potion for points. Each brewed potion also offers a one use special ability that can help give the student an edge of their peers. The player with the most points at the end of the game graduates head of the class! Fans of match-making puzzle games will not want to miss the strategic and tactile fun of Potion Explosion. Sounds fun, doesn’t it? Stop by CMON’s booth (#509) to demo the game and pick up an early Gen Con release copy!
