Announcing First Two Marketing Fellowship Winners
For the past seven years, Gen Con’s Entrepreneurs’ Avenue has offered a special area in the Exhibit Hall that supports exciting new exhibitors. Attendees can discover new companies and products in this area, as well as welcome new friends into the gaming industry.
Gen Con also awards Marketing Fellowships to the top six applicants from Entrepreneurs’ Avenue, each year. These awards afford the selected companies the opportunity to gain better exposure for their businesses through on-site marketing and expanded space in the Exhibit Hall.
Please join us in congratulating the first two announced Gen Con 2016 Marketing Fellowship recipients. Additional winners will be announced via newsletter in the coming weeks.
Marketing Fellowship Winner #1 of 6: Studio Woe
Studio Woe is a contract art house and creative studio providing concept art, illustration, design, and game specialized art services. Studio Woe was founded by Brent and Virginia Critchfield with a mission to create “devastatingly awesome” art and tabletop games. They have more than 20 years of combined experience in the Video Game Industry and are publishing their first tabletop game, Gruff. Gruff is a tactical combat card game where you crush enemies by using a specially crafted deck of mutated monster goats. Players choose from a wide variety of goats to create the perfect team. Mutate your goats, thwart barrages, and unleash crazy attacks to break through the enemy’s defenses. You will defeat the opposing Shepherd and be victorious!
They’ve worked on many properties including League of Legends, Darksiders, The Disney Universe, and Warhammer 40k, but they always wanted to create something of their own. They are thrilled to be at Gen Con, diving into this new adventure of creating their own unique board games.
Marketing Fellowship Winner #2 of 6: Summon Entertainment
Based in Orange County, California, Summon Entertainment was founded in 2015 as a developer and publisher of fantasy and sci-fi themed games. Focused on delivering high-quality original titles, Summon Entertainment is dedicated to providing fun and value for gamers, and supporting the retailers serving them.
Summon has announced their fast-paced, fantasy board game EPIC ROLL is on shelves now at select Southern California stores, and available online through the official website.
EPIC ROLL supports 2-3 players, with games typically lasting 15-20 minutes. Players each take the role of a questing hero, competing against one another to be the first to vanquish the fearsome Lich. Along their journey, the heroes combat deadly monsters, gain power, and earn treasures to aid them against their foes. Players must balance courage and caution as they battle their way towards the Lich and ultimate victory.

Shoulder Nights Activated in Housing Portal
You now can request additional nights for your existing housing reservations. This automated Wait List feature will enable users to request room nights on the beginning or end of their reservation that were unavailable at the time of booking. Nights for which a room is unavailable, but eligible for Wait List, will be denoted by a red exclamation point (!) indicator beside the date. After booking a reservation including one or more Wait List nights, the system will monitor inventory availability and automatically add the requested nights as they become available. Upon adding a night, the system will send the reservation holder a confirmation message indicating the night(s) that have been added. Wait List nights listed in your reservation are not guaranteed.
This feature will not allow you to request new reservations or to modify your hotel and/or room type. Attendees hoping to book new reservations or modify existing reservations to change room types and/or hotels should check availability online periodically. As other guests modify and/or cancel their existing reservations, online inventory will change accordingly in real time.
