Gen Con fans! Lone Shark Games’ industry insiders Paul Peterson, Boyan Radakovich, and Mike Selinker have teamed up with the folks at Monte Cook Games to create an epic new strategy card game. It’s called The Ninth World: A Skillbuilding Game for Numenera, and it’s on Kickstarter RIGHT NOW.
This is a new kind of card game called a skillbuilding game. It’s one part deckbuilder, one part Eurogame, and one part RPG. And it’s all set in Monte Cook Games’s Numenera universe, one billion years in the future. You get a hand of skill cards which you improve over the game while battling strange creatures, discovering bizarre relics, and going on dangerous quests.

2016 Badge and Hotel Planning Notes
With 2015 coming to a close, we would like to thank you for making 2015 the best year in Gen Con’s 48-year history. With more attendees, more events played, an expanded Exhibit Hall, and another year of great donations to Gen Con’scharity partner, 2015 exceeded all of our expectations. Thank you!
As announced over the past two weeks, Gen Con already has some exciting plans on track for 2016, including expansion into Lucas Oil Stadium and the announcement of an all-new show Co-Sponsor, Rio Grande Games. Expect to hear more exciting news in the coming weeks and months, including the announcement of new events, sponsors, and the Official Charity of 2016. The Gen Con team is planning for another record year and hopes to keep increasing the spectacle and fun of the show.
Badge Pre-Registration will begin on January 22 at noon (Eastern) with Hotel Registration starting two days later at noon (Eastern) on Sunday, January 24. Gen Con will again randomize each customer’s access to the Gen Con Housing Portal to book hotel rooms. After extensive research and review of attendee housing survey results, we have considered many alternative systems for housing registration and have determined the best course of action is to fix the technical issues some customers experienced with the randomized access system introduced last year.
Our team works to secure as many discounted hotel rooms as possible, but demand for downtown rooms vastly outstrips supply while suburban hotel rooms are typically available throughout the convention. Additionally, the lower prices of suburban hotels have made them a more attractive lodging option for many attendees.
Gen Con 2016 badge prices will be the following:
4-Day Badge: Pre-Registration price $90, Registration price $120 Single Day Badges (Thursday, Friday, Saturday): Pre-Registration price $55, Registration price $75 Family Fun Day (Sunday) Badge Prices: $45 during Pre-Registration and Registration for a family of up to four people Trade Day Badges (Wednesday through Sunday): $120 during Pre-Registration, $155 during Registration while supplies last. Valid trade credentials are required to attend.
Pre-Registration will close on June 19, 2016 at 11:59 pm (Eastern).
You’ll notice that Pre-Registration prices will not increase at the same rate that Registration prices have. Gen Con has discounted Pre-Registration prices to help encourage earlier commitment, which will help the organization plan attendance and activities for the 2016 show as early as possible. We appreciate your support and are dedicated to delivering a unique, once-in-a-lifetime experience.
New Web Forums
Gen Con is pleased to announce that we have opened new forums integrated with gencon.com that replace the forums on Gen Con’s existing community website.Integrating the forums with all the other functionality on our website makes them more visible and a more connected part of the Gen Con online experience. If you’ve been to Gen Con, you already have an account and can post to the new forums. No need for a separate account on another website. Hosting the forums along with the larger website also grants them much greater stability and capacity for Gen Con’s growing community.
The new forums do not yet have all of the features of the old forums such as private messaging, avatars, and signatures, but we’ll now be able to implement new features like these and more on a regular basis, customizing the experience specifically for the Gen Con Community.
Gen Con’s community website has been locked so new topics and posts can no longer be added. However the old forums will still be readable through at least the end of the year.
