Announcing Industry Insider Guest of Honor Duke Seifried
Gen Con is thrilled to announce its 2015 Industry Insider Guest of Honor, the master of miniatures, Duke Seifried.
If you were a gamer in the 1960s, chances are you played miniatures war games, and at the heart of the war-gaming scene in those days you would have found pioneer “Uncle Duke” Seifried. Still active at age 80, Duke is best known for his game “extravaganzas”. Billed as “interactive museum displays you can play on”, his collections of historical miniatures and dioramas are lovingly crafted, molded, and painted by the master craftsman himself.
Duke came to the fore in the hobby as a driving force behind several firms in the early pioneering days, namely: Der Kriegspielers, Custom Cast and Heritage USA., and TSR (Dungeons & Dragons). Duke has been awarded the prestigious Scruby Award from the Historical Miniatures Gaming Society (HMGS). His theatrical game presentations inspired the “Duke Seifried Game Master of the Year Award.” He has also been inducted into the HMGS Legion of Honor, where he serves as their commandant, and has been inducted into the Adventure Gaming Hall of Fame.
He will participate in several on-site activities, including autograph signings at the Chaldea booth (#2332) in the Exhibit Hall. Looking for more Industry Insider events? Check out these panels and seminars by Industry Insider Featured Presenters.
Make Your Game More Epic With the PolyHero Dice Kickstarter You may have heard of polyhedral dice… well PolyHero Dice are like those but even more AWESOME! The PolyHero: Warrior Set features a d4 shaped like a dagger, a d6 short-sword, a d8 mace, two 2d10 gauntlets, a d12 helmet, and a 20-sided shield. You’ll want to check out their Kickstarter campaign today! PolyHero Dice are the result of a creative collaboration between brothers Dann and Greg May from Melbourne, Australia. They’ve worked together in the visual arts for more than 20 years, as graphic designers, artists and 3D animators. They’ve also played Dungeons & Dragons (and other RPGs) together from an early age, starting with the red boxed Basic Set. This project is a labor of love for Dann and Greg; to create imaginative, 3D-sculpted custom dice for their favorite hobby, and for the pure joy of holding and rolling them. PolyHero Dice is FUNDED and working on unlocking new color options and upgrading the heft of the dice for all backers. If you like awesome different dice, let’s raise a flagon together and make PolyHero dice a reality!
