Diamond Dust Dreams Inc. a new game publisher is bringing two games to Origins. Here is their press release. Remember, if you can’t make it to Origins check out their website for opportunities to check out their product and possibly order it.
Warrenville, IL, June 1, 2015. A two-year-old company with two successful Kickstarter projects under its belt, Diamond Dust Dreams Inc has one card game in stores (Kitsune: of Foxes & Fools, a strategy game) and another (Bad Decisions, a party game) about to go on press. The team’s third game, a board game spinoff from Kitsune for younger players, should be prototyped and in playtesting by this July Diamond Dust Dreams plans to bring out a new game every year – including spin-offs and expansions of their first two games.
Lead Game Designer Ian Price has previously written freelance writing for White Wolf Publishing (before they became Onyx Path) on the Ghouls, Requiem Chronicler’s Guide, and Carthians books for the RPG Vampire: The Requiem. Ian did all of the game creation work on Kitsune: of Foxes & Fools and co-developed Bad Decisions. Susan Price, president and Chief Editor & Organizer (that’s what CEO means, right?) for the company, has more than 35 years of publishing experience, although publishing games is a novel application of that expertise. Susan has been responsible for editorial and layout input on both games, as well as cooperating on the game design of Bad Decisions. Art Director Charles Price (not attending Origins) crafted the look of both games and did most of the Illustrations for Kitsune.

This strategy card game, with a play mechanic reminiscent of the Munchkin games, is now in distribution to stores through Studio 2 Publishing. The team’s first Kickstarter project, to test the appeal of Kitsune: of Foxes & Fools, ran in August and September of 2013 and netted 87 supporters and 126% of the modest $5000 goal, far less than the expected development expenses. However, this success convinced the team that they had a viable product offering – that gamers who like strategy games would indeed pay $40-50 for an interesting new card game. Using the owners’ personal resources, the team finished the final redesign of the much-tested prototype over the winter and spring of 2014 and invested in the first print run of Kitsune: of Foxes & Fools, received from the manufacturer in August 2014.
Coming this Fall — Bad Decisions, a party game that combines Fool, Crisis and Bad Decision cards with a Story prompt card to create much hilarity, aims at an audience aged 13+, giving it a little edge but keeping it suitable for teens – and yet still amusing for those of college age and older. While finishing, arranging distribution for and beginning to market our first game, Kitsune: of Foxes & Fools (http://kitsunecg.com/), the idea that became Bad Decisions matured from vague notion through hand-cut rough trial versions to its professionally designed and printed second prototype.
During the play-testing process, Bad Decisions has received rave reviews from players at game, scifi, anime and Furry conventions all across the Midwest (including Gen Con, of course) and west to MileHiCon in Denver, CO. Games stores as well as players have expressed interest in getting Bad Decisions. Anyone can learn to play in seconds. The core game offers fun for everyone – because who hasn’t made (or made fun of) bad decisions? Bad Decisions funded its $10,000 Kickstarter goal in April, and will be available through Studio 2 Publishing to stores and distributors in August.
