Abstract Strategy War Game Debuts at ORIGINS after Successful Kickstarter Campaign
A Classic Alan Moon Developed Game relaunched!
They will have a booth at ORIGINS – Booth 843
Ken Hodkinson, the inventor of the abstract strategy board game Bin’Fa, the Tao of War, will be demoing the fourth version of the classic abstract strategy war game, Bin’Fa at the ORIGINS show in Columbus after a successful Kickstarter campaign last fall.
The goal of the Bin’Fa Kickstarter was to raise enough funds to provide toy and hobby retailers with a free demo copy of the game to include in their store libraries. At GAMA, over 60 Toy and Hobby shops from around the country were given free copies of Bin’Fa to include in their games libraries. The game will also played on game nights at toy and hobby stores across the country starting in April by the Envoy company’s Game Heralds.
Bin’Fa is a game that has been over 40 years in development. The 2015 edition has many changes from those familiar with its previous small run incarnations, including the 1977 original Bin’Fa; Avalon Hill’s version, Hexagony, which was produced by Alan Moon in the 1980’s; and the 2000 Seacoast Tube Edition.
Continually tinkering, altering and adding rules based on play and reviewer commentary, Ken Hodkinson’s latest changes include the addition of the General, Vortexes that allow you to traverse the board in one move, rule changes governing the gathering of supplies, and the separation of the original hexagon shaped game board into six separate game board sections which offer almost limitless possibilities for new terrain each game.**
About Bin’Fa: The Tao of War:
Bin’Fa has a play-time of twenty minutes to two hours. A player controls at least one but can control up to three armies per game. The recommended age is 12+ years. In Bin’Fa, the armies move over a landscape that is different each game. You can use the board sections to create inlets, peninsulas, isthmuses, lakes, and more. Adding vortex and terrain markers allows you even more control over the layout of the game board and how it will be traversed. Your ability to take advantage of the layout of the battlefield is crucial to victory and defeat. MSRP $37.95 – https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2114842695/binfa-the-tao-of-war
